INA Board of Directors
Board of Directors
The Board of Directors serves as agent for the House of Delegates. They exercise the corporate responsibilities and fiduciary duties of INA consistent with applicable provisions of law and are responsible for transacting the business of INA between biennial conventions.

Appointments
The appointments committee obtains suggestions from DNAs, assemblies, commissions, and any individual member and recommends to the board of directors appropriate candidates for vacancies within the INA committee structures.
Bylaws
The Bylaws Committee interprets the meaning of the INA bylaws. They receive all proposed amendments; recommend proposed amendments to the INA Board of Directors for approval and submission at the INA biennial convention; and advise District Nurses? Associations concerning changes in bylaws and amendments;
Editorial
The Editorial Committee coordinates the submission of articles to INA staff for final submission to publisher, recommends themes, potential authors, and respondents for each issue of each publication. They also review all articles for content and editing, relevance, and credibility.
Finance
The finance committee works with the INA staff to prepare an annual budget to be presented to the Board of Directors for approval and reviews the budget periodically and recommend any necessary revisions to the Executive Committee and/or the Board of Directors.
Government Relations
The Government Relations Committee recommends biennially, the legislative platform based on resolutions passed by the House of Delegates, and the strategic plan, analyzes the program and objectives of INA to determine the need for federal and state legislative action, receives proposals for legislative action from any structural unit, makes recommendations to the Board of Directors on Legislative policy issues, evaluates proposed legislation related to nursing and health care in Illinois and recommends legislative action consistent with the resolutions, strategic plan and goals and resources of INA.
Membership Recruitment and Retention
The Membership Committee plans and implements programs to develop, retain, and recruit members;, provides support to districts in member development, retention, and recruitment; and promote and communicate programs and activities of INA to members, non-members , and the public in collaboration with other structural units.
Nomination
The Nomination committee is responsible for seeking qualified and willing members to serve in INA elected positions and prepare the ballot to be presented to the members.

Commission on Continuing Education
The Commission of CE organizes, implements and administers a continuing education approval program in Illinois in accordance with American Nurses Credentialing Center Commission on Accreditation criteria, policies and procedures.

Commission on Economic & General Welfare
The Commission on E&GW oversees the labor program of the Illinois Nurses Association. They facilitate the organizing of nurses into local units for purposes of collective bargaining and assure that all persons represented by the Association in collective bargaining are guaranteed the autonomy and democratic rights of represented groups against interference by employers, supervisors, or management personnel.
Commission on Workplace Advocacy
The Commission on Workforce Advocacy supports the professional nurse in the workplace and supports the nurse in personal and professional growth and development in the practice setting to promote positive work-related experiences.

Action Reports
Congress on Health Policy & Practice
The Congress on Health Policy and Practice comprises a group of elected and appointed members whose purpose is to advance the profession of nursing through activities involving educational and delivery systems for practice, enlargement of the knowledge base for practice, the economics of practice and health care, and the rights of nurses and recipients of nursing services. The Congress reports to the Illinois Nurses Association (INA) House of Delegates and the Board of Directors; and, it conducts its activities in accordance with the general practices of INA.
Discipline Hearing Panel
The Discipline Hearing Panel conducts disciplinary hearings per INA policy.
District President's Forum
The District Presidents' Forum serves as a consultant to the Board of Directors on issues affecting the members and recommends to the Board of Directors statements of position relative to professional issues and/or organizational concerns

Foundation - Board of Directors
The Board of Directors are responsible for the governing the Foundation which serves to promote the health of the public by advancing the nursing profession in Illinois through charitable, scientific, research, and educational programs.
