Violence is, unfortunately, something we have to deal with all too frequently today. From school shootings to work place violence, we are becoming a more violent society and nurses absorb a good portion of that violence, either directly in the work place or through treating patients who are victims of violence. To help support you, we've got a nice mix of articles for this month--from addressing mass tragedies like school shootings to advice from the Joint Commission.
The Illinois Nurses Association calls for ratification of the federal Equal Rights Amendment and urges state legislators to promptly vote for SJRCA4. Illinois must join the 36 other states that have ratified the ERA to become part of the U.S. Constitution.

The Illinois Nurses Association (INA) have been unwavering in their support of the 2010 law and its provisions to expand access to health care. “The Affordable Care Act (ACA) offers a major step forward in reforming a health care system that costs twice as much and delivers less than the health care systems of other industrialized nations. Americans have been flooded with misinformation about the ACA. I hope that this series will educate the public on the many benefits of the Affordable Care Act."
